Escaping from a secret government funded research facility beneath ***NAME WITHELD*** Zoo in
Leicestershire in the year 2006 AD the four members of the Chimpanzees
- all being scientifically altered, capable of speech, upright posture and with opposable thumbs -
decided to form a musical group to express their dissatisfaction with human culture and society.
Otherwise they would have just gone on the rampage around the city like Gremlins tearing it the fuck up
while screaming in protest and throwing their fecal matter at windows, cars and any people that were
unlucky enough to be passing by.
Sonically they are an eclectic mix of electro, pop, blues, punk and alternative psych-rock with a
subversive sense of humour and a diverse range of influences including:
Giant robots. Devo. Wire. Gary Numan. Killing Joke. Pop Will Eat Itself. Dinosaur Jr. Misfits. Cramps.
Ramones. Dead Kennedys. Weezer. Pavement. Sebadoh. Butthole Surfers. Kyuss.
Queens of the Stone Age. Fu manchu. Monster Magnet. Clutch. Helmet. Fugazi. Quicksand.
The Jesus Lizard. Big Black. Shellac. Barkmarket. 16 Horsepower. Woven Hand. The Bad Seeds.
Chris Isaak. Roy Orbison. Reverend Horton Heat. Blues Explosion. Iggy Pop. Tom Waits.
Captain Beefheart. Frank Zappa. Ministry. Revolting Cocks. And many many more...
At present the line-up consists of brothers Aaran & Craig, and husband and wife team Jean Paul (J.P.)
AARAN - Hollers lead vocals, plays 'guitar-bass' and frowns a lot.
CRAIG - Also sings, plays synthesizers, controls samples and has a fringe with a mind of it's own.
J.P. - Bangs the drums, looks like Jedi Master 'Qui Gon Jin' and has a magnificient beard.
JEN - Plays electric Violin, provides backing vocals and has lots of cool tats and piercings.
(& BEN - Who played lead Guitar, yelled in the band & cracked wise has sadly since departed. R.I.P. brother.)
They've played various venues large and small around the UK, though mainly in the midlands
(Leicester, Derby, Nottingham, Birmingham, Coventry) in various incarnations of the band
and have supported signed acts such as:
Aereogramme, Janus Stark, Cave In, Sparta, Shonen Knife, Black Elk, Your Enemies Friends,
Hundred Reasons, Hell is for Heroes, Reuben and Oceansize, to name but a few.
Their first full length album is on the way! The album's title will be 'GREY TAPES' (see what we did there?)
and will feature 15 songs.
The full track last will consist of new and improved recordings of:
Beef Jerk-Off, Rufus, Target The Mouth, Shark or Wolfman?, and Shot.
And new songs:
Fuel The Hearse, Fat Camp Blues, Comfort Food, Lets Stop Breathing, Eat My Pixel, Zombat,

The release date is estimated
